The first tree in our orchard was planted 14 years to honor and remember the founder of this space, Benjamin Dyett Reid. Each year we planted another tree until we ran out of space. Philadelphia Horticultural Society assisted us in removing concrete, bringing in soil and enlarging the growing space so we could grow more trees. They donated several fruit trees and together with Philadelphia Orchard Project and Tree Philly our orchard has grown. It is very fruitful! We currently have Apple, Plum, Peach, Jujube (Chinese dates), Olive, Mango, Lemon, Orange, Fig, Banana and Almond Trees. Those trees that cannot tolerate cold temperatures move to their winter home in the Greenhouse.
